1. What is implicit racial bias and how does it work? How does it work to deny African Americans advantages in American society? Well, it is sad to write this but the whole idea of implicit bias states that we all might be a little bit racist. Implicit Bias is something that exists in our deep subconscious. The term basically is used to describe when we show or possess attitudes towards people or apply some kind of stereotyping on them without making a conscious decision about it. Implicit Bias can happen even unknowingly. It might happen that you may claim that you are not a racist person but the next moment you either pass of a casual comment or exhibit some body language that suggest that you have a bias towards a certain person. These attitudes can be very well manifested in school, workplace, judicial system, criminal justice system. Implicit Racial Bias is actually the idea that we all are racist, little bit, even if we do not want to be racist. It also means that even when we are fully aware and have knowledge about the racism there comes situation when we engage in prejudice and assumptions. And that becomes visible in our words and action. Now the question why does it happen when we are so much aware of the things and know that any kind of bias and discrimination is wrong.
